10 students held for clash at SRM univ
The Maraimalai Nagar police on Friday arrested 10 college students in connection with a clash between two groups of college students at SRM college in Kattankalathur.

The arrested students were identified as Lalith Prasad, Vishnu, Rakesh, Rajith, Govind, Pinto, Mari Karthick, Praveen, Adithya, Moulana Ali and a 17-year-old boy. They were arrested in the morning and released on conditional bail by evening.
The police said the fight was between two groups which are headed by Lalith Prasad and Mari Karthick. Both the groups had filed a complaint against each other and the police have registered a case under IPC section 147,323 and 506 (II) against Lalith Prasad’s gang and IPC section 294(b), 147,148,323,324,506(II) against Mari Karthick’s gang.
The police, who detained them for enquiry, arrested the students on Friday morning and produced them before the Chengalpattu court. In the evening, the court granted conditional bail for all of them. College sources said they will take action after a full report from the police. They added that no such incident will be repeated in the future.
The clash between the two groups turned violent last Tuesday and they were spotted carrying sickles and pistols to attack each other. As the security guards inside the campus could not control the situation, the Maraimalainagar police had to rush to the spot.
