VIT Chennai to conduct ‘Vibrance 2020’ from Feb 6
VIT Chennai will be conducting its sports and cultural festival ‘Vibrance 2020’ from February 6-8 and the winner will get Rs 6 lakh as prize money.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Vice President, VIT, Sekar Viswanathan, said that over 160 programmes will be conducted at the festival. Over 10,000 participants from various prestigious institutions across India will be competing during the three-day event.
Viswanathan added that the inaugural day will feature a performance by noted music composer Devi Sri Prasad, in the presence of Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla. On the valedictory function, on February 8, Bollywood actor Vivek Anand Oberoi will be the chief guest. Vibrance 2020 will also witness performances by international dance troop Shraey Khanna and artists DJ Joshi and DJ Rink.
Speaking about the event, students of different committees said that the important highlight of ‘Vibrance 2020’ would be Silent Disco by Silent Owl – the first such event to be held in a cultural festival. They added that the budget of the festival was nearly Rs 57 lakh. Adding to the excitement, Viswanathan released two t-shirts, one in red and another in grey for the festival.
The sports events as part of ‘Vibrance 2020’ began last week and included hockey, volleyball, throwball, tennis, cricket, football, tennis and cyclothon. Sources revealed that a marathon would be held on February 6.
Vice Chancellor, VIT Anand A Samuel, said that since its inception in 2010, VIT Chennai had grown to its current student strength of 9,300, including over 1,000 Ph D students – a pointer to the importance to research by VIT.
