The Shankar Nagar police had registered a man missing complaint. The murder of the 21-year-old came to light after the accused confessed to the crime a drunken brawl two days ago. The police arrested Praveen (22) and Nitish (21) of Anagaputhur and a search is on to nab three others.

The deceased was identified as N Logesh (21) of Karikalan Nagar in Anagaputhur. The police said that Logesh had discontinued the schooling and was a daily wage labourer. In April 2019, Logesh went missing and his parents lodged a complaint at the Shankar Nagar police station.

Two days ago, residents noticed Praveen, Nitish and three others fighting on the road.In the melee, one of them boasted how they killed Logesh and that he would do the same again. Once the news reached Logesh’s parents, they approached the police again.

The police arrested Praveen and Nitish near Thiruvalur on Sunday. During inquiry, they confessed that they had killed Logesh.

Praveen, Nitesh, Basha and three others were friends of Logesh. Last year, a fight broke out between them and after the incident, Logesh tipped off the police about his friends’ ganja pedalling activities.

Angered over this, the gang killed Logesh. Initially, they told the police that they buried the body near the lake and during the further inquiry, they admitted that the body was thrown into an unused water tank in Anagaputhur.

Logesh’s remains were recovered from the tank and sent for DNA test.
