A man from Varadarajapuram had booked the slot for his family wedding at Ambedkar community hall which belongs to the Tambaram municipality. He had booked the hall for the reception on Tuesday evening and marriage on Wednesday morning. Sources said that he had booked the slots in July 2019 and had paid the advance. Meanwhile, another person from Thiruvanchery had booked the hall for the same slot for his family wedding in September 2019 after paying the advance.

On Tuesday afternoon, both the families arrived at the hall to make arrangements and arguments broke between both the parties.

Their receipts showed the same time and date of their bookings. After both the groups went to the Tambaram municipality, the manager checked the register to reveal that one of them has not signed, leading to the confusion. As the mistake was on the municipality’s side and failed to get a booking from a private hall, the officials constructed a temporary shed for one of the parties at a vacant land within its compound.
