Man murders wife, stages suicide setting

The police said that the deceased Thilagam (36), got married to Jeyavelu in the year 2007. The couple have two kids - Sanjay (12) and Janani (11). Jeyavelu is a truck driver by profession and the family resides at Kanniyappan Mudali Street in Maduravoyal.

On Friday evening, Jeyavelu had approached the Maduravoyal police station claiming that his wife committed suicide following a misunderstanding between them. The police immediately recovered the body and sent it to the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

After the post-mortem it was learnt that there was no sign of suicide and instead there were strangulation mark on the neck of Thilagam, police noted. When questioned, Jeyavelu confessed that he murdered his wife, since he was having an affair with another woman and his wife had started questioning it after she got to know about it. The Maduravoyal police have registered a case and arrested Jeyavelu.
