“Chennai is the home to musicians like Ilaiyaraja and AR Rahman. I owe all my success to them and their inspiring music. I am a big fan of the music scene in the city,” Trivedi tells DT Next in an interview, ahead of his concert in Chennai.

Trivedi will be performing in the city for a fundraiser concert named ‘Indradhanush —Colours of Life’. “Throughout my career, I have composed songs across genres to suit many different moods and to convey a wide range of emotions. The concert will depict seven types of emotions like love, sadness, fear and anger, hope and courage, friendship, unity in diversity and dance, through the music. Each segment will have songs that talk of each of these emotions,” he elaborates. The concert aims to raise funds for city-based public charitable trust RYA Cosmo Elite Foundation’s project called ‘E-bank’, which provides medical equipment on use-and-return basis free of cost for people in need.

The renowned singer and lyricist says he would also love to sing songs in Tamil. Trivedi is on board for the Tamil remake of Kangana Ranaut’s hit Hindi film Queen, titled Paris Paris, which is expected to hit the screens this year. Explaining his process of making music, the 40-year-old says, “The process of composing music starts with storyline, which is crucial. I also see how the music and a particular song would work in the film as well asoutside of it.”

Trivedi is also busy creating music for a handful of films simultaneously in different languages. “I have created music for director Mohan Krishna’s film titled V (starring Nani), which will release soon. I’m also working on three other Hindi films and a Gujarati film. So, the year 2020 seems good,” he remarks.

Amit Trivedi’s concert in the city will be held onJanuary 25 at YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, from7 pm onwards.
