Man kills friend in fight, on the run

Kumar, the deceased, was a wage worker of Kattankulathur near Chengalpattu. As they were consuming liquor, an argument broke out between Kumar and his friend Sivakumar (42), also a wage worker from the locality. The police said Sivakumar broke a beer bottle and attacked his friend, and escaped from the spot after confirming he is dead.

The neighbours informed the Maraimalainagar police. A police team retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem examination at the Chengalpattu government hospital. Officials said Sivakumar has several petty cases against him, adding that a search is on to nab him. The police noted that this was the third murder in Maraimalainagar for the past one week. Earlier, a 22-year-old history-sheeter was murdered by his gang members over dispute in sharing the loot. Last Saturday, a man in his mid-forties was found dead at a bus stop near GST Road with injuries on his body. The police are yet to identify the deceased and the murderer.
