Lorry drivers, staff clash at toll booth

A lorry loaded with cement bags was heading towards Namakkal from Chennai and when it reached Panarur toll booth, the staff asked the driver to pay extra as the lorry had extra load than usual.

The driver and the cleaner of the vehicle started an argument with the booth staff over this. Soon other lorry drivers also joined them.

The police said that the groups began attacking each other and on information, the Chengalpattu taluk police visited the spot. They held peace talks with them and admitted eight-person, who suffered minor injuries, to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital.

The police have also registered a case against three lorry drivers. Further inquiry is on.
