80 sovereigns burgled at gated community in Tirumullaivoyal

As much as 80 sovereigns of jewels were burgled from an apartment complex in Tirumullaivoyal. Police launched a hunt for the suspects with the help of CCTV footage and fingerprints were retrieved from the house.

The house in the second floor of the complex on Tirumalai Vasan Road belongs to Arunkumar (53) who works in Dubai and his wife Vyjayanthimala (49) and son Vigneshwaran (20), a college student, were staying at the house here.


On December 10, when Vyjayanthimala left for her daughter’s house in Bengaluru along with her son, they found valuables scattered all around and 80 sovereigns of the jewels kept in the cupboard was missing. Shocked about the incident, Vyjayanthimala informed the police and a team led by Crime Inspector Priyadharshini rushed to the spot and investigated. Police suspect that the burglars might have entered into the house after climbing up using drainage pipes on the rear side of the building.


Fingerprints and CCTV footage were collected to identify the suspects. Police are under the impression that someone known to the family might have kept a watch and burgled the house. Further investigation is under way.


Techie’s house burgled in Perungalathur


Meanwhile, unidentified persons escaped with 40 sovereigns from a house in Perungalathur. The victim Karthikeyan, a software professional working in private firm and resident of NGO Colony, had left to Sabarimala in December. His wife stayed with her parents in the same locality, with their house locked.


When she returned on Sunday morning, she found the main door broke open and 40 sovereigns burgled. Based on her complaint, Peerkankaranai police registered a case and are combing the CCTV footage in the locality to identify the burglary suspects.


10 sovereigns looted from auditor’s house


Similarly, 10 sovereigns were burgled from an auditor’s house in Tiruvallur. Gopi of Rajajipuram in Tiruvallur, who works as an auditor, went to his relative’s house in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. When he returned home on Saturday night, he found the house door broken and 10 sovereigns kept in a cupboard missing. Based on his complaint, police registered a case and further inquiry is on. Luckily, another 50 sovereigns kept in a cupboard in another room were left untouched.
