Expect light showers in Chennai over next five days, says Met
Most parts of Chennai received at least 4 cm of rainfall on Sunday, and several areas such as DGP office, Central Chennai, Anna University, Meenambakkam and several parts of Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur also received light rainfall.

Tiruvallur received 4 cm of rainfall, while areas in Kancheepuram received at least 1 cm of rainfall. While Nungambakkam weather station received 3 cm of rainfall, Meenambakkam received at least 1cm of rainfall.
But, even after the unexpected rains, Chennai still has received 17 per cent lesser than the average amount of rainfall this year. Officials from the regional meteorological centre officials say that light to moderate rainfall is expected in the city in next 48 hours. The Met stated that several areas are likely to experience a drizzle in isolated parts of the State.
Meanwhile, the city might receive light rainfall in some areas in the next five days too. The weather condition is to remain cloudy with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 30 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius.
On Monday, the maximum temperature in Nungambakkam was 30.2 degrees Celsius, while Meenambakkam recorded 30.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures recorded were 22.1 degrees Celsius and 21.8 degrees Celsius at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam.
Weather blogger Pradeep John also stated that light to moderate rainfall is expected up to Wednesday in Chennai and other districts. Even Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur may receive light rainfall, he added.
