Three killed in different accidents in the city

A 60 year old man died and his 40 year old son escaped with minor injuries after their car rammed a stationary truck near Poonamallee late on Monday night. The deceased Loganathan and his son Sivakumar were on their way to Tirupathur in a car when the accident happened. On information, Poonamallee traffic investigation police rushed to the accident spot in Pappanchathiram near Poonamallee and reduced Sivakumar. He has been admitted at a private hospital, while Loganathan's body was sent to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is on. Police said the father-son duo was running a pani puri shop in Porur. 

In another accident, a civil engineer died as two bikes collided head on in Virugambakkam on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Manikandan (23) of Chromepet. The incident happened when he was riding his two-wheeler towards Vadapalani from Valasaravakkam. Near Vennila Amman temple signal in Virugambakkam, his bike collided head on with another ridden by Dinesh of K K Nagar. Since Manikandan did not wear helmet, he suffered grievous injuries and died in the spot. Pondy Bazaar traffic investigation police have arrested Dinesh for further investigation. Manikandan's body was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.In a hit-and-run case reported in Maduravoyal, a 46 year old man was fatally knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on Monday night. The deceased Manimaran (46) of Peerkankaranai was rammed by a vehicle when he tried to cross the road. While the vehicle fled without stopping, passers-by alerted Koyambedu traffic investigation police. His body was sent to KMC for post-mortem and further investigation is on to identify the vehicle that causes the accident.
