Imposter IAS official held for job fraud
A person, who cheated people to the tune of Rs 1 crore by posing as an IAS officer deputed as the personal secretary to the Governor, was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Friday. The investigators said the man took money from the victims on the promise of getting them government jobs.

The accused, identified as Danielraj alias Vijayakumar of Chennai, was arrested based on a complaint lodged by one Saroja who was cheated of Rs 13 lakh. She had believed his assurance to get her brother a job as an engineer at Chennai Port.
His accomplices were identified as Seshaiah and Thyagaraj of Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli district and a hunt has been launched for them.
Danielraj met the victims and in the course of the conversation, he claimed that he was very close to the President of India. He then collected certificates from them at a hotel, the police said. The job fraud prevention wing sleuths who arrested Danielraj said that he has several cheating cases pending against him at CCB.
Fake lawyer held for extortion
A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly extorting money from shopkeepers in Kothavalchavadi after posing as a lawyer. The accused, identified as A Dhanasekar (30) from Vyasarpadi, is a member of the VCK, said police. Based on a complaint by one of the victims, Kothavalchavadi police registered a case and arrested Dhanasekar on Friday night. He was booked under Section 419 (punishment for impersonation) and 384 (extortion) of IPC, and was remanded in judicial custody on Saturday.
