Engg student commits suicide in hostel

The deceased has been identified as R Kishore from Kovilpatti, who was studying first-year chemical engineering at a private college in Kalavakkam village near Thiruporur.

Police said Kishore was staying in the hostel. A few days back, Kishore’s two roommates had gone to their native and he was alone in the room. On Tuesday night, Kishore failed to go for dinner.

The other students noticed that his room was locked for a long time and received no response after they knocked his door.

The students informed the hostel warden and when they broke open the door, Kishore was found hanging on the ceiling fan using a rope.

The Thiruporur police team who rushed to the spot, retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to the Chenagalpattu Government Hospital.

Police said that though Kishore was good in academics, he stayed alone and would not mingle with other students.

Police after inquiry confirmed that there was no ragging. They recovered the mobile phone of Kishore and sent it to the cyber police for forensic tests. A case has been registered.
