Rotary Club inaugurates project for govt school kids

Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal had inaugurated an ‘Annadhanam’ project recently. The project was launched for the students of Government Adi Dravidar Welfare Higher Secondary School situated at Kannigapuram, Vyasarpadi, in Chennai.

Thanks to a very noble initiative by the Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal, the ‘Annadhanam’ project was implemented in association with a non-governmental organisation called RIVER (The Power of Women) who will provide food during evening hours to nearly 585 students from class 9 to 12 during their extra classes till March 2020, according to a press release.


Madhu Saran is an active rotary club member besides the Founder and Managing Trustee of RIVER which is engaged in supporting women empowerment initiatives. Hence the food will be prepared by a destitute women group and supply it to school students of Government Adi Dravidar Welfare Higher Secondary School situated at Kannigapuram, Vyasarpadi in Chennai. The total project cost of this‘Annadhanam’ project is Rs 14 lakh, the press release added. Rotary district governor Chandramohan inaugurated this project in the presence of assistantgovernor Dakshayani.


Among those present on the occasion were Madhu Saran and Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal president Rajesh Khetan along with community development director Manjit Singh and secretary Rishi Tulsyan.


According to Rajesh Khetan, president of Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal, it has actively engaged in various community service projects for students besides public including regular health care camps in andaround Chennai.
