Notice on plea seeking to restrain AMMK’s recognition
The Madras High Court has ordered notice on a plea moved by V Pugazhendi, once a strong supporter of TTV Dhinakaran, seeking a direction to the Election Commission of India (ECI) not to register “Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam” (AMMK) without giving an opportunity of hearing to him.

Justice C V Karthikeyan before whom the petition came up for hearing on Wednesday issued notice to ECI returnable byDecember 16.
Pugazhendi submitted in his plea that Dhinakaran filed an application for AMMK’s registration as per the statutory norms laid down under section 29-A of Representation of Peoples (RP) Act before ECI.
But Dhinakaran either before launching the party or filing the application had failed to frame the bye-laws for the party and till date had not convened the General Body to elect office bearers as per the statutory norms laid out by the RP Act, he said.
He further submitted that Dhinakaran while proclaiming himself as the General Secretary of AMMK for which he has sought registration had nominated the office bearers as per his own choice.
Moreover, neither membership application form nor any card was filled up by any of the cadre, he said while noting that this was wholly against the guidelines issued for registration of the politicalparties.
Reiterating that Dhinakaran has not framed the constitution of AMMK in a proper manner, Pugazhendi submitted that any process of granting registration to AMMK without hearing him would cause undue hardship and irreparable loss topublic.
