Two held for sexually assaulting school girls

The two Class 10 girls were rescued from them and handed over to their parents. The accused, Kanagaraj (25) and his friend Vijayakumar, were remanded in judicial custody.

The girls’ parents lodged complaints at Kannagi Nagar police station that their children did not return from school. The CCTV footage retrieved from near the school revealed that the girls boarded an autorickshaw.

Police traced its owner, identified as Kanagaraj. As mobile phone was located to Kumbakonam with the help of network providers, a team of police personnel rushed there and secured the men along with girls and brought them back to the city.

Investigation revealed that the duo cheated the girls on the promise of marriage and sexually exploited them. Based on the complaint by their parents, police arrested the duo and remanded them.
