    Northern districts to receive heavy rain in next 48 hours: MET

    The Kancheepuram-Tiruvallur-Chennai (KTC) belt is likely to receive heavy rainfall during evening hours in next 48 hours due to Easterlies. Regional Meteorological Centre said that several districts including Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Salem are likely to receive heavy downpour.

    RMC also issued a warning stating that heavy rainfall is expected in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Kanniyakumari and Virudhanagar districts in the next48 hours.


    As per the weather reports, Chennai received at least one cm of rainfall on Tuesday, with Guindy, Saidapet, Meenambakkam, Kodambakkam, Adyar and Vadapalani receiving light showers. Meanwhile Toothukudi, Cuddalore, Tirunelveli, Pudukkottai, Karur, The Nilgiris and Tiruvannamalai received at least 3 cm of rainfall.


    On Tuesday, the maximum temperatures in Nungambakkam were 31.7 degree Celsius, while Meenambakkam recorded degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures recorded were 25.3 degrees Celsius and 24.8 degrees Celsius at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam.


    For next 48 hours in the city, the sky is likely to be overcast with light to moderate rain or thundershower in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.


    Weather blogger Pradeep John also stated that there is a probability of light to moderate rains in the city for next three days, while moderate rain is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
