Assistant director attacked, 2 held

The victim, Prabhakaran (28), who is said to be working with Selvaragavan, has been admitted to a hospital. The accused were identified as Babu (27) and Raj Kumar (28) of Teynampet, a cab driver.

The incident happened when Prabhakaran was returning to his home in Nungambakkam from Kodambakkam.

Around 11.30 pm, there was a traffic jam on Railway Border Road as a water tanker entered a narrow lane. Prabhakaran got out of his car with a friend and tried to clear the traffic when two men in another car picked up an argument with him.

Suddenly, Raj Kumar pulled out a liquor bottle from the car and smashed it on Prabhakaran’s head. Prabhakaran’s friend rushed him to a private hospital and other motorists nabbed the duo and handed them over to the police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo was under the influence of alcohol and were on the way to their friend’s house in Choolaimedu. They were remanded in judicial custody.
