History-sheeter ‘Arcot’ Suresh nabbed with weapons, ganja
The Pulianthope police arrested history-sheeter ‘Arcot’ Suresh along with his two accomplices, and seized weapons and ganja from them.

They were secured from the Corporation playground in Kannaikapuram on Sunday and remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
The police said that V Suresh (40) alias ‘Arcot’ Suresh has 6 murder and 25 attempt to murder cases pending against him. One of his aides, O Rajesh (36), has one murder and four attempt to murder cases pending against him. The other arrested person has been identified as Ameer, who has a murder case pending against him. Two machetes and three kg ganja packed in sachets were seized from them.
Earlier in April, Suresh was arrested at gunpoint in April along with four of his men at Pulianthope and was detained under the Goondas Act in May. After he was released on bail recently, Suresh went absconding again, said the police.
Suresh is the main accused in the murder case of one Chinna at the entrance of Poonamallee Court in 2015. He also allegedly murdered one Kathiravan at KK Nagar and another person identified as Radhakrishnan at Narasimha Nagar in Pulianthope.
Ganja peddlers arrested in three places
The police arrested seven peddlers in the city and seized 4.5 kg ganja from them on Sunday.
Red Hills police arrested G Aravindan (25) and M Liyakat Basha (23) of Pattabiram, R Sekar (55) of Kodungaiyur and a 17-year-old boy near Thandal Kazhani on Sunday night and two kg of ganja kept in small sachets were seized from them. Inquiries revealed that the gang smuggled the contraband from Andhra Pradesh and sold them to college students in the locality. Three of them were remanded in judicial custody, while the juvenile was sent to observation home.
Similarly, the Kodungaiyur police arrested K Arulraj (20) and S Chinna Thambi (19) of MGR Nagar from RR Nagar and seized 1.3 kg of ganja from them. The Royala Nagar police also arrested a 35-year-old, identified as M Vinoth of Ramapuram, in possession of 1.250 kg ganja. They were remanded in judicial custody.
