Two robbers held for assaulting labourer
Two robbers who allegedly attacked a labourer with a knife were caught by passers-by and handed over to the police.

The accused were identified as Arunachalam (22) and Manikandan (22). The police said that the duo intercepted Iyyapan (26) of Vellore, who works as a labourer at the Koyambedu vegetable market, and attacked him in a bid to rob him. Passers-by who saw this secured and handed them over to the Koyambedu police. Iyyapan suffered minor injuries in the incident. Investigation revealed that they also snatched a mobile phone from a pedestrian.
3 held in possession of weapons:
The Mylapore police have arrested three persons in possession of weapons and seized two machetes from them. The accused were identified as B Bharath (36) of Ruther Puram, S Bhaskar (47) of Sundara Gramani Garden and P Pavithran (26) of Gandhi Nagar. Among the trio, Bharath is a history-sheeter at the Mylapore police station with a murder case pending against him. The trio was chased and secured on Friday when they tried to flee on noticing a police team on night patrol near the Ambedkar bridge. They were remanded in judicial custody.
