3.3 kg gold worth Rs 1.33 cr found under aircraft seat
Officers from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs seized 3.3 kg gold that was hidden under the passenger seat of an international airline, at the Chennai airport.

The gold seized on Thursday, with an estimated value of Rs 1.33 crore, has not been claimed by anyone so far, said the agency.
According to a release from the office of the Commissioner of Customs, they received information about gold being smuggled on an Oman Airways aircraft that landed at the Anna International airport here.
Based on the information, a team of officers from the AIU rummaged the aircraft which arrived from Muscat and found three bundles wrapped in black adhesive tape, concealed under one of the passenger seats.
When they opened the bundles, the officers found three gold bars, each weighing one kg, with foreign markings.
There were also three gold plates without any markings of 24 k purity.
Together, the smuggled gold weighed 3.365 kg, said the statement, adding that it has been valued at Rs 1.33 crore.
The recovered fold was seized under Customs Act, 1962, the agency said, adding that it was not claimed by anyone so far. Further investigation was in progress, it added.
