A day after the city police registered a case following a complaint that playback singer Suchitra was missing, the singer denied it, alleging a conspiracy behind approaching the police with the complaint.

Talking to DT Next over phone, she said, “I am not missing. But my sister has lodged a complaint because I was not reachable for a few hours. Now, they have kept me in a clinic in Anna Nagar saying that I am mentally unstable.”

Suchitra had hit the headlines when she allegedly leaked intimate pictures and videos of Kollywood celebrities in 2017 through her twitter handle. The photos and videos went viral on social media, popularly called as ‘Suchileaks.’ However, through her then husband Karthik, she claimed that her twitter handle had been hacked. The couple later got separated and divorced.

In her complaint, Suchitra’s sister Sunitha had said that the singer was missing from Monday. “I am concerned as she is mentally disturbed,” Sunitha had said in the complaint.

Suchitra said that she believed there being a conspiracy behind her sister lodging the police complaint and also taking her to a clinic. “My sister and her husband are waiting outside. I can’t even step out,” she claimed.

The police said that Sunitha, a neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) therapist, lodged a complaint at the Adyar police station on Tuesday saying that her sister was missing since Monday. She had mentioned that the Suchitra went missing while she was driving a car. According to the police, the singer was travelling from her parents’ house in Adyar to her sister’s house in Valmiki Nagar,Tiruvanmiyur.

“My sister wanted to meet me and get my signature on certain papers. The documents have not been drawn up yet, but she had been trying to convince me,” claimed Suchitra.

When contacted, the police noted that immediately after they received the complaint from Sunitha they tracked Suchitra to a star hotel. “It looks like Suchitra failed to inform her family where she was going and remained untraceable for a few hours. We don’t know if she was taken to hospital by the family; it is a personal matter,” an officer said.
