“The protest across the State by the doctors was withdrawn as the Chief Minister and Health Minister announced that the demands could be negotiated and resolved soon. They promised after the protest is withdrawn, they would speak about it further. But, even now, there have been no discussions with the doctors. We have met health secretary Beela Rajesh more than six times and are yet to get a response,” said Dr Lakshmi Narasimhan, president of Government Doctors Association.
The doctors said that when they had planned of protesting last year, the Health Minister had promised that the state government would resolve all pending issues within four weeks, but no action was taken. “We also want the 118 doctors who were transferred after the protest to be returned to their previous positions,” said Dr Lakshmi.
