    Techie dies in accident 3 months before wedding

    A 30-year-old software engineer, whose marriage was fixed only last week, was killed after a truck hit his two-wheeler near Padappai on Saturday.

    The deceased was identified as Gugan (30) of Saligramam, an employee of a software firm in Thoraipakkam. Police said that Gugan’s marriage was fixed last week and he had gone along with his friend Viswanathan (34) to check out a flat in Poonthandalam village near Padappai on Saturday. He wanted to settle there after marriage, said the police.

    The accident happened when they were returning home. Around 7 pm, when they were crossing Erumaiyur road near Melathur village, a truck that came in the opposite direction to a quarry and hit the vehicle.

    Gugan who was riding the motorbike was wearing a helmet but Viswanathan who rode pillion did not. Police said both were thrown off the vehicle in the impact. Gugan sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot, while Viswanathan was admitted to Chromepet GH for treatment.

    2 killed as trio on bike rams stationary mini truck at Padi

    Two youngsters who were riding triples died after their vehicle rammed a stationary mini truck on Padi flyover in the wee hours of Sunday. This is the second fatal accident reported on the stretch in two days after a TNSTC bus collided with a container truck resulting in the death of the bus conductor on Saturday morning.

    The accident happened around 1 am on Sunday when the trio, Vijay (17), Prasanth (20) and Sathishkumar (17) of Villivakkam, were returning home after attending a wedding in the locality.

    As they were climbing the flyover from Dadankuppam, Prasanth, who rode the bike, lost control and rammed a stationary mini truck from behind.

    In the impact, all three were thrown off the bike. Vijay and Prasanth suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot. Sathishkumar was rushed to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for treatment. He is said to be out of danger.

    On information, the Tirumangalam traffic investigation police have registered a case and further investigation is on.

    Inquiries revealed that the truck, which was carrying water cans from Red Hills to Valluvar Kottam, had a breakdown on the flyover. The driver was involved in repair work when the accident happened.
