Taking selfie with fiancé, woman slips into well, his rescue effort in vain
A 23-year-old woman slipped into a farm well and drowned when she tried to take selfie with her fiancé near Pattabiram on Monday.

The deceased, T Stephie alias Mercy of Pattabiram, was engaged to one Appu (24) of Pattabiram, her relative and a private firm employee, a few months ago. Their wedding was fixed to be held in January.
Police said the couple who went on a bike ride on the Outer Ring Road on Monday afternoon noticed a farm well at Kandigai village near Muthapudupet and wanted to take a selfie.
When she sat near the well for the photo, she allegedly slipped and fell into the well. Appu jumped into the well in a bid to rescue Stephie. Hearing their cries for help, people working in the nearby fields rushed to the well and one Sadagopan managed to rescue Appu. He was rushed to the hospital.
However, Stephie had drowned by then. Soon, fire control room was alerted and personnel from Avadi Fire and Rescue Services station rushed to the spot. They could fish out Stephie’s body only after an hour.
On information, Muthapudupet police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
