Head constable’s house burgled at Madambakkam
Unidentified men broke into the house of a police constable and escaped with 10 sovereigns of gold near Madambakkam on Monday.

Sources said the victim, Rajesh Kumar (32) of Sabapathi Nagar in Madambakkam, is a police constable attached to Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) battalion stationed in Avadi. Rajesh’s wife, who is pregnant, had gone to her mother’s house when the incident took place.
After reporting for duty on Sunday, Rajesh returned home on Monday morning to find that his house door was broken open. When checked inside, 10-sovereign gold jewels were missing from the house. He has filed a complaint with the Selaiyur police, who have registered a case and are investigating.
Burglars drill hole, loot pawn shop
Burglars made a hole on the wall of a pawn shop and escaped with silver ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh near Uthiramerur on Monday. Narayana Lal (48) of Rajasthan owns a pawn shop and jewellery in Kathankulam village near Kancheepuram. On Monday morning, residents noticed a hole on the backside wall of the shop. The nearby fast-food shop was also broken open. After preliminary inquiry, police said two kilograms of silver worth Rs 1 lakh was stolen. There are no CCTV cameras in the locality. The police suspect that the burglars might be regular customers of the fast-food shop. The Uthiramerur police have registered a case and are investigating.
