Kolkata woman referred to Chennai for treatment dies of cardiac arrest mid-air
A 43-year-old woman, who was coming to Chennai from West Bengal for treatment, died of cardiac arrest in mid-air on Friday. The deceased was identified as Nisha (43) from Kolkata.

The police said that Nisha was suffering from heart ailments and she was referred to a private hospital in Chennai for treatment. Following that, Nisha and her husband Ansari (47), a businessman, boarded an Indigo airlines flight to Chennai on Friday early morning. The flight was scheduled to land at Chennai airport at 8.45 am. When the flight was mid-air Nisha suffered severe chest pain and became unconscious. Soon the pilot contacted Chennai ATC and asked for first preference to land. The flight landed at the airport at 8.18 am and a medical team rushed inside the flight. But Nisha had already died following a cardiac arrest. The body was sent for post-mortem examination to Chromepet Government Hospital. The flight was scheduled to depart to Bangalore at 9.20 am but following the incident, it was delayed and departed to Bangalore only at 11.40 am.
