Woman’s eyes damaged as youth throw crackers in air

The victim was identified as H Kalaivani (28) of Annai Sathya Nagar in Arumbakkam. She was walking to a nearby shop on Annai Sathya Nagar Main Road where a few people werebursting crackers by throwing them in the air. One of thecrackers exploded near her eyes and her eyesight was affected,said the police. Kalaivani’s husband Harikiran took her to a private eye hospital in Nungambakkam where the doctors recommended a surgery to restore her eyesight. Harikiran on Wednesday lodged a complaint at the Choolaimedu police station seeking action against the miscreants. Following this, the police have launched a hunt for the suspects. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is on, said the police.
