Job fraud: 4 held for cheating 73 persons
The sleuths from Central Crime Branch arrested four persons, including the kingpin of a fake job racket, for cheating 73 persons to the tune of Rs 3.5 crore on the promise of getting them jobs at Anna University and Tangedco.
Chennai
The accused were identified as Vishveshwar alias Viswas (29), and his accomplices Rajapandi of Perambur, Arumugam of Madurai and Raju of Villivakkam.
Following several complaints against Vishveshwar that he has been cheating job aspirants, a special team was formed by the job fraud wing of Central Crime Branch. Investigation revealed that Vishveshwar handed over fake appointment orders for jobs such as public relations officer in Anna University, and assistant engineers, junior engineers, junior assistant and office assistant posts in Tangedco after receiving Rs 1 lakh to Rs 15 lakh depending on the nature of the job.
Police identified Vishveshwar as the main accused, while others worked as his agents. All the four have been remanded in judicial custody and a hunt has been launched for others suspects involved in the racket. Most of the victims are from Erode, Madurai and their surroundings, but police suspect that the gang might have cheated youngsters from the city as well. Police advised job aspirants not to fall prey to fraudulent calls and messages offering jobs.
