No Filter: Director Mithran hopes to impress audience with his next
Actor Vishal’s 2018 hit film Irumbu Thirai marked the debut of director PS Mithran. The film was lauded critically and by the masses.
Chennai
With a debut film of that magnitude, there is a lot of pressure on Mithran’s able shoulders as he gears up for the release of his next film titled Hero. The teaser of the film was released a couple of days ago and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The film has a stellar cast featuring Sivakarthikeyan, Arjun and Abhay Deol. In the film, Mithran explores the vigilante genre and promises to bring in something new and exciting to the audience.
So how did this film come about and he tells me that he worked with Sivakarthikeyan in a short film in 2011 and from then on they have always talked about working together for a film. After the success of his debut film, they decided to collaborate. Mithran says, “I have written this plot and worked on the film in my usual style. I spend a lot of time writing the script for Irumbu Thirai. I have set aside the bank of already written scripts and ideas and have started afresh. Coping with the timelines has been a challenge and a steep learning curve.”
The filmmaker says that once the film shooting was started it has been a breeze as the cast and crew are his friends and that makes work easier. I heard that there was an air of informality and friendly banter on sets making it a fun yet professional set. After watching the teaser of Hero, I can’t wait to see Mithran weave his magic on screen soon.
How Suhasini’s mom inspired her to start wearing sarees
At a recent event in the city, the guest of honour actor Suhasini Maniratam had gotten along a very special guest — her mother. It was beautiful to see the bond the mother-daughter shared. A little known nugget of info is that Suhasini, like many of us, grew up as a tomboy and didn’t want to wear silk sarees. Her mother suggested that whenever she received an award or her films ran successfully for a hundred days they ought to buy one to mark the occasion. Suhasini narrated the story as this being her idea but her mother, as all mothers do, was quick to correct her. It’s great to know that no matter how accomplished someone is, all mothers are the same and yes, they are skilled at embarrassing you in public! Suhasini shared that soon her wardrobe was filled with sarees and therein began her love affair for sarees. Her films have inspired generations but it’s lovely to find out that her mother had an ‘inspired idea’ that to date reflects in Suhasini’s elegant style.
