Recruitment of assistant profs to govt colleges made stricter in TN
The recruitment of assistant professors to Tamil Nadu government arts and science colleges has been further tightened with more formalities laid before the appointment.
Chennai
Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TNTRB) had recently issued a notification to recruit 2,331 assistant professors for government arts and science colleges across the State. The board has also laid fresh and specific guidelines while appointing assistant professors in the State-run colleges in the future.
A senior TNTRB official told DT Next that as per the latest notification from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a PhD is must for candidates, especially in government colleges.
“Accordingly, the government has made amendments to the recruitment process with regard to the qualification while appointing assistant professors,” he said.
The official said that the State has also introduced several aspects, including authentication of thesis and verifying experience certificates. Doctoral thesis of candidates would be evaluated by at least two external examiners authorised by the government.
“Experience certificates should also be produced in a new format instead of getting it from the letterheads of the institution,” he said adding that experience certificate claimed while doing full-time courses (or) full-time PhD will not be considered.
For the first time, candidates will also be asked to procure attendance data from the institution he or she worked. “Other details such as no objection certificate from the institution where the candidate had worked and subject-wise experience certificate have to be produced during the verification process”, he said.
If any certificates are found to be forged, TNTRB will initiate criminal action against the erring individual and the countersigning authority. All experience certificates will be verified by a competent authority during certificate verification.
