Cop accuses CMBT police of not accepting plaint, inspector denies
A video of a traffic police constable accusing personnel at CMBT police station of not entertaining his complaint against a man for troubling his wife over phone has been circulating on WhatsApp. However, when contacted, CMBT inspector Murugan said that they closed the case on the couple’s request after receiving a written statement from them.

In the video, the man who identifies as himself as Karthik, a traffic police constable at Koyambedu police station, claims that he was made to wait at the police station along with his wife and their one-and-half-year old child for an entire day before being sent away without accepting his complaint. Karthik alleges in the video that the complaint was regarding anonymous calls and messages made to his wife’s phone.
However, instead of accepting his complaint, the CMBT police reportedly threatened to book him and his wife. He further alleged that the anonymous person troubling his wife had affected the peace in his family. He goes on to say that the video was more a bid to reach out to the senior officers like Deputy Commissioner and Joint Commissioner in order to make them intervene and inquire why his complaint was not taken up for investigation.
He even claims in the video that he was ready to pay bribe to the police officials if that was what they expected to process the complaint. While he was not reachable over the phone, CMBT inspector Murugan, when contacted, denied the allegations.
“It was a family dispute and after we interrogated the couple, they decided to withdraw the complaint and sort it out among themselves. I am not sure why Karthik has released the video accusing us,” he said.
