Corporation launches website, toll-free helpline number for self-help groups

“Citizens can visit www.clcchennai.in to know more about the women self-help groups. The website will have information on each groups and their experiences. Those seeking their help can call on the toll-free number 1800 425 8973 and a representative will visit you,” said Corporation commissioner, G Prakash, who launched the website and the toll-free number.

The groups help people in professions like housekeeping, domestic work, electrical work, carpentry, plumbing, and tailoring. Prakash has also given Rs 50,000 to the groups to run their businesses.

“It has been two years since we have started the tailoring shop, and we have not invested any money. Only with the Corporation’s help, we have managed to develop the business. We earn up to 25,000 per month and more during the festival season. I think we will get more customers through this website,” said Sarsa K, runs a tailoring shop in Mannadi, and a part of a self-help group.
