Four days after an engineer was robbed of his gold chain in Korattur, the police arrested two persons.

The victim, S Dakshinamoorthy of Korattur, works as a senior engineer at a car manufacturing company in Maraimalai Nagar and the incident happened around 1.30 am on Saturday (November 30) when was walking home via Kakkai Nagar Road after being dropped by the employer’s vehicle on CTH Road. A bike-borne duo, who approached him on the pretext of seeking directions to an address, suddenly snatched his two-sovereign chain. When Dakshinamoorthy protested, one of them threatened to hurl a stone at him and fled the spot.

Based on his complaint, the Korattur police arrested the accused -- G Sanjay Rahul (19) of Nungambakkam and R Karthick (19) of Villivakkam -- with the help of CCTV footage and remanded them in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, unidentified men robbed cash, mobile phone and gold rings from two software engineers at knifepoint near Pallavaram on Tuesday. The victims were identified as Parveen Kumar (32) and Jayachandran (28) from Shankar Nagar in Pammal. On Tuesday night, they rwere travelling to Shankar Nagar on a two-wheeler when a group of four men in masks intercepted them and snatched their smartphones, two gold rings and Rs 2,700 at knifepoint before fleeing from the spot. The techies filed a complaint with the Shankar Nagar police on Wednesday morning and the police have registered a case. Sources said that Shankar Nagar is under CCTV surveillance except for this particular stretch.

Car, phone recovered from 2 accused
The Ambattur police arrested three persons for allegedly robbing a truck driver of his mobile phone and Rs 1,200, and seized their car.

M Jeevanantham (23) of Menambedu, V Munisamy (25) of Ambattur and M Mukesh (22) of Ambattur were remanded in custody.

The accused intercepted R Muthukumar’s truck on Monday near Red Hills and robbed him before fleeing the spot. The Ambattur police remanded the suspects.
