“The facility, on Swami Sivananda Road, was being used by the contractor to mix concrete and do fabrication works of pillars for Metro Rail construction.
During our inspection, we found uncontrolled mosquito breeding. They made the payment promptly after the imposition of penalty,” a Chennai Corporation official said. The inspection was conducted by Vasudevan, sanitary officer of Royapuram zone, and sanitary inspector Senthil Kumar. Meanwhile, a Chennai Corporation press release said that the civic body had collected Rs 32.74 lakh as penalty from those who had failed to control mosquito breeding in their premises till Friday.
