Canadian falls off after rival handler scares horse
A tussle between two horsemen on the Marina beach to lure a 25-year-old Canadian woman tourist resulted in her falling off the horse and suffering minor injuries. When she was sitting on a horse, another handler scared the horse, said the police.

Sources said that the foreigner, a resident of Montreal in Canada, was in Chennai for a short vacation when the incident happened. “She was shocked though there was no major physical injury,” her friend KP Charan toldDT Next when contacted.
Describing the incident, Charan said that it all happened as there was a competition between two horsemen to get the customer. “As she fixed one horse and saddled herself on it, another horseman came charging towards them. Because of it, the horse on which she was riding got scared and it shook her off,” he noted.
The Canadian woman, who was earlier working in Canadian Embassy in Delhi, later preferred a complaint at the police station in connection with the incident.
For the last two days, she has been having bad experiences in the city, noted Charan, a native of Chennai. “On Saturday night they were ‘caught’ by a group of transpersons at Nungambakkam. They tried to physically drag her. Somehow, we managed to wriggle off from the situation,” Charan recalled. And on Sunday night, it was the turn of horsemen at Marina, he added.
“She feels it was a wrong decision to visit the city,”he added.
