3rd eye and swift action helped nab Bagri gang in MP
About 14 years ago, when investigating a series of burglaries involving a gang from North India – called the Bawaria gang based on the tribe they belong to – the city police finally caught them after years of background check, research and relentlessly following up.

But to nab the gang that was part of at least three burglaries in the city, it took less than two days, thanks to the CCTV network and coordinated efforts by the personnel from city police, RPF and Madhya Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference on Monday a day after the Chennai police team took custody of gang of Ajmer, Rajasthan origin from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Additional Commissioner (Chennai South) Prem Anand Sinha, noted that Third Eye surveillance system helped them nab the gang so soon.
The gang, of whom seven have been arrested so far, had reportedly committed at least two other burglaries in the city before leaving on Friday evening.
The police teams checked the CCTV footages and traced the suspects up to MGR Chennai Central railway station. Based on the timing of train departures, the officers zeroed in on Jaipur Express, which left the station at 5.10 pm.
By then, the train had reached near Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. Senior officers from city police immediately contacted their counterparts there and effected a search in general compartment, leading to the arrest of the seven suspects. More than 120 sovereigns were recovered from them. The gang members reportedly spent their nights in Marina beach before committing the crime, police said. “The arrested gang members are being brought back to Chennai by the special team, who are expected to reach here by Tuesday night or Wednesday,” Additional Commissioner Sinha added.
