“The men began to ransack the shop when, in a state of panic, Seema handed over Rs 15,000, which was in her possession,” a police official said.
Two of her employees, Babloo and Manish, who just entered the shop tried to prevent the robbery. But they were attacked by the gang using logs and other sharp weapons. When the commotion attracted the attention of locals, the gang fled on the motorcycles with the cash.
Following a complaint by Seema, the Gummidipoondi police rushed to the shop and conducted an investigation. Babloo and Manish were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they underwent treatment for injuries. The police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects.
