Youth robbed at knifepoint on Marina, 3 held

The incident happened on Wednesday night when the victims, Jerin (22), Immanuel (20), Bobby (22) and Raja 29 of Ayanavaram, went to the Marina beach after attending a wedding nearby. When they were sitting close to the beach behind the Nethaji statue, a three-member gang approached them and started a conversation.

Suddenly, the gang threatened them at knifepoint to part with their valuables and when the victims refused, they slashed one of the youth on his cheek and escaped with a one-sovereign chain and two mobile phones. Following this, the victims approached the police personnel who were on patrol. However, the suspects mingled with people who were sleeping on the beach by then, said the police.

The police then searched all them and seized the stolen valuables from an accused, Vijay (22) of Zam Bazaar. Based on his inputs, his accomplices, Deva (20) and Parthiban (19), were also arrested and a knife was seized from them. All three were remanded in judicial custody.
