Blast suspect stayed in city since 2007, started working as labourer
When Special Task Force team from Kolkata tried to secure SK Asadullah alias Raja of Burdwan in West Bengal from his house at Canalpuram, his neighbours, all construction workers, prevented him from being taken away. Following this, the team from West Bengal sought the help of local police.

City police said Asadullah has been staying in the city since 2007. “He started working in a hollow block making unit in Tiruneermalai and would often go to his hometown. Recently, he started working as a construction labourer and rented a house in Thoraipakkam,” said an official.
Asadullah was kept at Neelankarai police station overnight and moved to Thoraipakkam as the location he was picked up from falls in their jurisdiction. In the afternoon, he was then taken to Alandur court, which granted the STF permission to take him to Kolkata for interrogation to know whether he played any role in the 2013 Bodh Gaya blasts.
His capture came after 22-year-old Mohammed Abul Kashem alias Kashem, who was arrested in Kolkata on September 1, mentioned Asadullah as his friend. Asadullah is said to have returned from Kolkata on the day when Abul Kashem was arrested.
“Asadullah was the closest aide of Ejaz Ahmad, the head of India operations of JMB, who was nabbed by STF recently from Gaya. Asadullah fled moments before we conducted a raid at Gaya along with Bihar STF and recovered explosive materials, including detonators. He often travelled to Gaya and Itahar from Chennai to store components required to prepare explosives,” claimed Kolkata police.
Serial blast accused from West Bengal nabbed
A 35-year-old man from West Bengal, who was wanted in the 2013 Bodh Gaya serial blasts case, was arrested in Thoraipakkam on Monday night.
He was identified as SK Asadullah alias of Raja of Burdwan in West Bengal, who is said to have his allegiance to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), which was declared a terrorist organisation by the Centre in May this year. Kolkata Special Task Force (STF) police, which received a tip-off that he has been hiding in the city disguised as a construction labourer, traced him to his rented premises in Thoraipakkam police station limits and secured him. He was booked under several sections of the IPC and was also produced before the judicial magistrate in Alandur court and was taken back to Kolkata.
