Since launch, 4.8 lakh use share auto, taxi services at Metro stns
More than 4.8 lakh passengers have used share auto and taxi services from Metro Rail stations to reach their destinations in the last one year.

To provide last-mile connectivity to the passengers, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) had launched share autos and share taxi services on a trial basis on August 11, 2018. “A total of 41,131 passengers utilised the share auto and share taxi facilities at Metro Rail stations in the last month. So far, a total of 4.86 lakh passengers have utilised the service since the launch of the service in August last year,” an official statement said.
Share autos are now being operated from seven Metro stations for a flat charge of Rs 5 and share taxi services from six stations for Rs 10. These services take passengers from and to Metro stations, covering a radius of about 3 kilometres.
Last month, 36,368 passengers made use of the share auto services with Guindy station recording the highest number. As far as share taxi services are concerned, 4,763 passengers used the service last month with Koyambedu and Alandur stations topping the chart.
The release said that 4,987 passengers made use of the app-based feeder service launched on August 5 this year from six stations. “CMRL had tied up with Bengaluru Mega Cabs Pvt Ltd to provide feeder service at six Metro stations through an app-based system developed by Ford Mobility. The feeder operation route covers a distance of six to eight kilometres from each of the stations at a flat rate of Rs 10.
Ticket collection system for this service is also integrated with the Chennai Metro Smart Card system and Chennai Metro mobile app system,” it said.
