    AP policeman robbed of valuables in share auto

    A 55-year-old policeman from Andhra Pradesh was attacked and robbed by an unidentified man when he was on his way to the Madhavaram bus terminus in a share autorickshaw on Sunday night. The police suspect that the share auto driver could have also been involved in the crime.

    The policeman was identified as James, a constable from Udayagiri in Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, he was returning to his hometown after visiting his daughter, who is in Puducherry.

    James, who reached Koyambedu from Puducherry by bus, boarded a share autorickshaw to reach the Madhavaram bus terminus so that he could catch a bus to Andhra Pradesh.

    When auto reached the Gnanamoorthy Nagar, an unidentified man, who was also travelling in the vehicle, attacked James and robbed him of four sovereigns, a mobile phone and Rs 1,000 in cash. Later, he pushed him off the auto and fled the spot.

    James managed to reach the Ambattur police station and lodged a complaint against the unidentified person. As the auto driver did not try to rescue James, the police suspect that the driver could have also been part of the gang and have launched a hunt for the duo. The police have registered a case and are going through the CCTV footage collected from the locality to identify the vehicle and suspects. 

    Policeman’s daughter relieved of chain at temple

    A five-year-old girl was relieved of her four-sovereign chain at Vadapalani Murugan temple on Sunday. The victim, Navdisha, is the daughter of constable Sasikumar, who is attached to the police control room. A resident of police quarters in New Washermenpet, Sasikumar came to the Murugan temple in Vadapalani with his wife and daughter to attend a wedding.

    Navdisha who was playing in the temple premises was later found crying. When Sasikumar enquired, she reportedly told him that she was relieved of her chain by an unidentified man. Based on Sasikumar’s complaint, the Vadapalani police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
