Rains to continue for two days: Met
Most parts of the city received heavy rainfall on Friday evening after the city witnessed temperatures soaring in the afternoon.

Various parts of the Chennai including Taramani, Purusaiwalkam, Porur, Kolathur, Meenambakam, Nungambakkam, Guindy, Koyambedu, and Pallavaram received heavy rains.
The flooding of main roads and residential areas led to traffic jams in various localities. Taramani recorded about 4.6 cm of rainfall, while Adyar recorded 4.4 cm of rainfall during the evening hours.
Madurai received a maximum of 7 cm of rainfall on Friday. Other districts including Sivagangai, Pudukottai, The Nilgiris, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Perambalur and Dharmapuri received at least 4 cm of rainfall each.
On Friday, the weather stations at Nungambakam and Meenambakkam recorded a rise in maximum temperatures that remained 36.1 degree Celsius and 35.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded in Nungambakkam was 26.8 degrees Celsius and 26.4 degrees Celsiusin Meenambakkam.
For next five days, the regional meteorological centre has predicted isolated rains over various parts of Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy in the city as light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in some areas in the next 48 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.
Weather experts say that the rains are expected to continue for the next two days, especially in the suburban parts of Chennai bringing rains to Tambaramand Chengalpettu.
