Man stabs wife to death in front of 5-yr-old son in Neelankarai
The police are on the lookout for a 37-year-old man who killed his wife by stabbing her several times in front of their five-year-old son in Neelankarai on Sunday. They are interrogating the suspect’s mother to find out if she aided him in the murder.
Chennai
The deceased, Akila (30) of Tiruvannamalai district, and the suspect, Dhanasekar, got married in 2013, but they separated within six months due to differences. After this, Akila was staying at her brother Gunasekaran’s house in Perungudi along with her son.
The incident happened on Sunday evening when Akila went to Dhanasekar’s house at Thiruvalluvar Nagar in Neelankarai seeking money for their son’s education. A quarrel erupted between them and Dhanasekar, in a fit of rage, attacked her with a kitchen knife. He stabbed Akila several times on her face, chest, abdomen and hands. Dhanasekar’s mother and his son were witnesses to the murder, said police.
After Dhanasekar’s son ran out of the house crying that his mother was being attacked, neighbours alerted the Neelankarai police. When the police reached the spot, Akila had already died and Dhanasekar escaped from the spot. Her body was recovered and sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for autopsy.
The police detained Dhanasekar’s mother for inquiry on suspicion that she might have been involved in the murder and also launched a hunt for the main suspect.
After a preliminary inquiry, the police said that Dhanasekar was working as an office boy at a private firm. He lied to Akila’s family that he worked in a software firm for a salary of Rs 30,000 and married her. After marriage, he stopped going to work and abused Akila demanding more dowry. This led to their split, the police added.
