Vendors encroach bus terminus
The entrance to the Madipakkam bus terminus has been encroached by several roadside vendors as a result of which buses are unable to enter the terminus forcing commuters to board the bus from the road junction.

Around 30 years ago, the local panchayat constructed a bus terminus near the Easwaran temple in Madipakkam and over the past few decades, several MTC buses ply from here.
Sources said that more than half of the 50-feet entrance of the terminal was encroached by the petty shops.
“Due to this, commuters need to travel an extra kilometre,” said SR Geetha, social activist from the neighbourhood.
She added that the bus terminus was helpful for senior citizens who are now forced to walk a long distance.
Locals claimed that the bus terminus has become a den for anti-socials in the night. “Repeated complaints to the authorities concerned but no action has been taken,” said Elumalai, a regular commuter from Madipakkam.
When contacted, the Sholinganalur Tahsildar J Prabakar said, “The encroachments should be removed by the highways or the local body. Since, the highways department has not taken any action, now for the welfare of the people we have decided to take steps to clear the encroachments in the entrance,” he said.
