Alagiri asks Jairam Ramesh to leave Congress party for praising PM Modi
Expressing “shock” and “pain” at his party colleague Jairam Ramesh praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, State Congress President KS Alagiri has urged the Congress high command to crackdown on ‘anarchists’ like the former union minister by taking appropriate action.

Alagiri also advised Ramesh to show civility and leave the party.
Taking exception to the ‘suggestion’ of Ramesh that criticising Modi would not do any good to the party, Alagiri, in a statement issued on Saturday, said, “I am terribly shocked and extremely pained over some bureaucrats-turned Congressmen like Jairam Ramesh expressing such a view.”
Describing BJP and Congress as parties “guided by completely different political philosophies,” the TNCC president said, “Were people like Jairam Ramesh given key positions in government by Sonia Gandhi for weakening the party? It is all the more distressing to note that all those who now believe that Narendra Modi should not be criticised had enjoyed extensive benefits as members of the Congress by occupying ministerial berths in the past.”
“If those Congress leaders were to aver by their right to freedom of expression, they could have conveyed their thoughts directly to Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi rather than expressing such views in public,” Alagiri suggested, before opining that such averments could confuse and demolish the resolve of the average field worker of the Congress who are taking on the might of the BJP, countering its evil machinations, at the grassroots level daily.
Showering minor praises on Narendra Modi for frivolous things can only be construed as an attempt to weaken the Congress more than the concerted vicious onslaught launched by the BJP, he claimed.
