Unclaimed bag triggers panic at airport
An unclaimed bag in the departure area of the international terminal triggered panic at the Chennai airport early morning on Tuesday.

The security officers who were monitoring the CCTV cameras noticed a black colour bag that remained unattended on a chair near the Air Arabia airlines’ counter for a long time. They informed the airport duty manager and announcements were made. As nobody came forward to take the bag, bomb disposal squad arrived at the spot with sniffer dog and checked the bag. On opening, officials found that it contained only clothes with bottles containing jam and pickle. The bag was handed over the airport manager office.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur-Tiruchy flight was diverted to Chennai airport following bad weather in Tiruchy on Monday. The Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur was scheduled to land at Tiruchy airport on Monday. Following bad weather there, the flight was asked to wait in the air. But after the weather remained unchanged, the Air Traffic Control asked the pilot to head to Chennai airport. The flight landed at 11 pm, but the passengers were asked to remain seated. After the climate at Tiruchy improved, the flight departed at 12.10 am.
