Woman digs 25 feet hole inside house searching for mandira thagadu

Raja, a resident of KVN Puram in TP Chathiram who worked in a private firm, recently fell ill and was subsequently paralysed. His wife Mythili, who was distressed over the appalling condition of her husband, approached a godman, identified as Suresh on Mint road, in July as advised by her well-wishers.

Suresh reportedly told Mythili that her enemies have placed the metal plate that carried a curse underneath her house and advised her to remove it immediately to get rid of the evil.

Mythili, who blindly believed the godman, was ready to do anything for the family’s welfare and decided to go by the godman’s words. She moved the family to a rented house nearby and started digging her house with the help of two men under the supervision of the godman, said the TP Chathiram police.

Even though she did not find any metal plate under the house, she continued to dig the house up to 25 feet below the ground. The dug-up sand was put in 70 gunny bags and kept outside the house. As the number of bags kept increasing, the neighbours started asking questions to Mythili, but she was reportedly non-committal in her response. Also, as neighbours noticed the godman visiting the house every day and performing pujas at odd hours, they grew suspicious and alerted the TP Chathiram police.

A team of police personnel who went to the house to inquire about the incident were perplexed after she informed them about the ‘curse’. Suspecting that this could be a cover story for smuggling the dug up sand, the police later informed the Revenue Department. But Revenue officials who visited the house on Sunday asked her to close the pit and closed the case.
