    Two held for phone snatching in Manali

    The Manali police have arrested two men, who snatched a mobile phone from a staffer at the Customs office in Ennore a week ago. The stolen mobile phone and the bike used for the offence were seized from the accused, K Sabarinathan (25) and E Yuvaraj (21) of Sowcarpet.

    The police said that the incident happened on August 9 when the victim, K Shanmugam (47) of Tiruvottiyur, was walking off Manali-Tiruvottiyru High Road. The accused were nabbed with the help of the CCTV footage and the police said that the duo has other cases pending against them. Both have been remanded in judicial custody.


    Meanwhile, the Korattur police have launched a hunt for an unidentified duo who attacked and robbed a pedestrian on CTH road on Friday night. The incident happened when Saravanan (30) was returning home from a restaurant where he was employed. He was intercepted near Padavettamman temple by a bike-borne duo who threatened him at knife-point to part with his valuables. When he refused, they attacked him and fled the spot with his mobile phone and cash. Passers-by rushed him to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for treatment. The Korattur police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
