Toddler dies after falling into cauldron of water

The police said that the toddler Arun was playing near the cauldron when he fell into it. His father Murugan usually bathed the child by placing him inside the cauldron.

On August 3, he received a phone call and went out while his mother Sokkammal was busy in the kitchen.  “The boy was alone in the bathroom for two – three minutes. Murugan then called his son to check if he was playing, when he failed to get any response, he ran into the bathroom to find Arun with his head into the water, struggling,” a police officer said.

Murugan rushed his son to a private hospital from where doctors sent him to the Institute of Child and Health hospital in Egmore, where he died without responding to the treatment on Tuesday. The hospital authorities informed the Vengal police station before sending the child’s body to Chengalpet Government Hospital for autopsy.
